Business Ideas, Road Trip Films, Et Cetera
I have no idea. But now I’m thinking that I need to explore some business opportunities. What do you think of …
- ABBOTOX? Tighten up your face while you simultaneously brush up on Greek and Latin roots of English words!
- ROABBOTICS? Robots silly enough to come up with something like this post.
- SABBOTEUR? Wait, I think that’s already a men’s clothing boutique in the West Village.
Starting a road trip tomorrow morning, so posting will be irregular for a few days. Road trips: that’s a hugely popular topic for filmmakers. Your favorite? I could watch the first half of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid a few more times. I used pictures from Kelly Reichardt’s Wendy and Lucy in an earlier post: something deeply affecting about that movie. The Night of the Hunter with Lillian Gish and Robert Mitchum: so creepy and so wonderful.
And that last one is not a conventional road film. Other unusual ones? 2001: A Space Odyssey? The Seventh Seal? Milo and Otis? (Look it up, if you dare.) What about Winged Migration? I have an amusing family story about the 1953 film Beat the Devil, with Humphrey Bogart and company, but I’ll spare you.
Sadly, my own buddy will be traveling on business.
Finally, this is my 200th post. Thanks so much for reading. And let me know if you have suggestions for quick, interesting, sanity-saving side trips as I head south from New York City to Louisville, Georgia.
